New Conspiracy: Israeli Genocide Against Lebanese – With Poison Balloons

The Iranian news agency Fars has reported that "genocide by poisonous balloons is the new method employed by the Israeli army for killing people in southern Lebanon."

Fars dispatches from Beirut said that the Israeli planes have so far dropped thousands of these balloons all across the woods and coastal areas in southern Lebanon. The balloons, in bright colors with phrases such as "Happy Birthday" in English and Hebrew on them, have been seen particularly in Nabatiya, Sour, and the surrounding villages and, of course, in Beirut.

The agency reported, "Anyone touching or inhaling the gas escaping from the balloons will be poisoned immediately. So far, nine citizens have been poisoned; some are in critical condition."

The report went on to say that the Lebanese army had launched extensive investigations, and that international peace-keeping troops deployed in southern Lebanon had expressed willingness to "examine the poisonous gas and materials contained in and on the surface of the balloons."

It added, "The Israeli army has a long record of massacring civilians, with bombs placed inside dolls, mobile sets, and similar objects. In the last case, the Zionist army dropped 3,000,000 bombs hidden in different objects in southern Lebanon. Months after the ceasefire between the Israeli regime and Lebanon, there are still millions of such bombs left in residential areas."

The report concludes: "The Lebanese are angry, since the measure is a blatant violation of Resolution 1701, which established a ceasefire between the two sides. The Israeli regime has so far refrained from providing the international or Lebanese authorities with the precise location of the affected areas."

About The MEMRI Blog

As a reader of MEMRI, you are familiar with our continuing efforts to expand our work to monitor more media outlets in more countries, research more subjects, and translate into more languages.

At this crucial time, as the war on terror continues, with the escalation of conflicts in the Middle East, and with reformists in the region needing help to make their voices heard, we are introducing The MEMRI Blog.

The MEMRI Blog is a new service, provided by The Middle East Media Research Institute, which will operate in conjunction with MEMRI.org, MEMRITV.org, and MEMRIFilms.org.

While MEMRI regularly provides translations from editorials and sermons, as well as expert analysis, The MEMRI Blog will specifically highlight brief NEWS ITEMS from Arabic, Persian, and Turkish language media sources.

Summaries are posted on the front page, but be sure to read the FULL ENTRY.
