Al-Manar TV Emissary Among Detainees In Morocco Terror Cell Arrest; Cell Ties To Hizbullah Suspected
The 23 men arrested in Morocco on suspicion of planning a terrorist operation include not only Islamist party heads Mustapha Moatassim and Mohamed Merouani, but also an emissary of Hizbullah's Al-Manar TV, Abdelhafid Sriti (see "Morocco Arrests Terror Cell, Islamist Party Heads".) Also arrested was a former parliamentary candidate from the Islamist Party of Justice and Development (PJD), the Moroccan parliament's second largest party, as well as the official spokesman of the party headed by Moatassim, Al-Badil Al-Hadhari. Security forces said that the questioning of the suspects focused on their ties to Hizbullah and on Moatassim's secret meetings with Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Also arrested in connection with the affair was a police captain suspected of leaking information about it to the media, forcing police to carry out the arrests before the investigation's completion.
