Fatwa In Egypt Revokes Gender Equality In Giving Testimony, Inheritance

Several ulamaa from the Al-Azhar Institute in Egypt have issued a fatwa opposing the demands of Islamic law expert Dr. Zaynab Rajwan to let non-Muslim women inherit from Muslim husbands and to give equal weight to women's testimony in court.

The ulamaa stated that these demands were a gross violation of what the Koran and Sunna stated, and were against ijma – the consensus of the community of Muslims.
