Khartoum airport customs authorities said that they have confiscated satellite broadcast equipment that the BBC was attempting to smuggle into Sudan via the British Embassy's diplomatic mail.
Sudanese government sources in Khartoum said that the incident was likely to mar Sudan-U.K. relations.
