At an April 28 joint press conference in Riyadh with Norway's foreign minister, Saudi Foreign Minister Sa'ud Al-Faisal denied that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad had asked to visit Saudi Arabia.
He said that Saudi relations with Syria were stable and that there were direct contacts between the two countries, and expressed amazement over Iran's proposal to mediate between Saudi Arabia and Syria.
