Saudi King Abdallah has invited Hashemi Rafsanjani, the main political rival of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, to participate in an international conference on intra-Islam discourse.
The king stressed the importance of Rafsanjani's participation, "because of the high status accorded to him by the Islamic world."
