Iranian Source: Resolving Nuclear Crisis – Key To All Other Problems Between Iran, U.S., International Community
An Iranian source clarified to the London daily Al-Sharq Al-Awsat that the Iranian leadership sees resolving the nuclear crisis as the key to all the other problems between Iran and the U.S. and the international community.
At the same time, the source stressed that Iran was not willing to compromise at all on its uranium enrichment, which he called a "red line."
The source added that Iran was convinced of the advantages of direct talks, and that it does not see Syria as a mediator between it and the West.
He said also that talks between U.S. National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki in Ankara were aimed at examining the possibility of direct talks between Washington and Tehran.
With regard to talks between Israel and Syria, the source said that Tehran feared that the negotiations would move beyond the return of the Golan to Syrian into other issues such as disarming Hizbullah.
