The Yemen Women association has condemned a fatwa issued July 15 by Yemen clerics banning women from participating in politics.
The fatwa was issued in response to the proposal by Yemen President Ali Abd Allah Salih that political parties involve women in political activities and allocate to them 15% representation in the next parliament, in the framework of a so-called "feminine quota."
