In interviews with the Russian press, Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad compared Syria-Lebanon relations to Russia-Georgia relations.
He said that Syria had a clear position regarding events in Lebanon, just as Russia had interests in Georgia, and this should not be seen as interference in the country's internal affairs as the West was claiming.
