A source in Najaf reports that the condition of leading Shi'ite cleric in Iraq Ali Al-Sistani is deteriorating, and that he is comatose.
The source said that Sistani has for several months suffered from serious health problems and is being cared for by a team of Iranian and Iraqi doctors, but that "official and political elements don't want to reveal the condition of the cleric's health."
However, Al-Sistani's office director, Hamad Al-Khafaf, denied the news of Al-Sistani's deterioration.
