The Church of the Nativity expellees, whom Israel transferred from the West Bank to Gaza during Operation Defensive Shield in 2002, have submitted a request to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to have them returned to the West Bank, even to prison in Jericho or Ramallah, instead of leaving them in Gaza.
