Rahman Malik, the Interior Security Adviser to the Pakistani Prime Minister, has said that an opportunity to nab Al-Qaeda’s Deputy Leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri was lost but his wife was killed during a military action, the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Nawa-i-Waqt reported.
According to the report, Rahman Malik said that Pakistani security forces had got definite information about the presence of Ayman Al-Zawahiri in Pakistan’s tribal district of Mohmand Agency.
According to the report, he said: ‘‘At one point, the security forces had even traced the presence of Ayman Al-Zawahiri [in Mohmand Agency].’’ Rahman Malik did not say when and how the opportunity to nab Ayman Al-Zawahiri was lost, but he confirmed that Al-Zawahiri’s wife was killed in the military action that followed.
