Jumblatt Attacks March 14 Forces Allies

In an interview with the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar, Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt attacked his allies in the March 14 Forces, stating that their position was not unified.

He said that instead of dismantling Hizbullah, a dialogue should be conducted with it, and that Hizbullah’s possession of weapons should be reconciled with until conditions allow it to integrate into the state.

Jumblatt stated that Sa'd Al-Hariri's advisors are harming Al-Hariri's image and that of the Al-Mustaqbal stream, and accused Al-Mustaqbal of establishing a militia to fight Hizbullah, which he called "madness."

Jumblatt also confirmed that his positions had changed recently.

Elements in Jumblatt's party expressed reservations about the publication of the interview, saying that the statements were distorted and taken out of context.
