Report: Obama Administration Easing Sanctions On Syria

Syrian Transportation Minister Dr. Yaarob Badr has said that the U.S. Department of Commerce has approved the export to Syria of spare parts for two Boeing 747 airplanes.

He said that the planes had been grounded due to the Bush administration's sanctions against Syria, and that Syria sees the new American administration's approval for the shipment of parts as a positive signal.

He added said that Syria had signed a memorandum of understanding with the French Airbus company for the import of 14 planes, beginning in 2010.
