Russian Companies to Bid for Iraqi Oil

Following Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki's visit to Russia last week, the giant Russian energy company Gazprom has confirmed that it will enter the bidding for the development of six oil fields and two natural gas fields in Iraq.

Other Russian oil companies are entering the bidding process as well.

Iraq will announce the winning bid during the third quarter of this year.
