Sahwa Movement Wants to Run for Election with Al-Maliki

Sheikh Ahmed Abu Risha, secretary-general of the Sahwa [Awakening] Conference in Iraq, has indicated that he prefers to run for the next parliamentary elections scheduled for January 16 in coalition with “the State of Law Movement” headed by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki.

The Sahwa movement, which fought and expelled Al-Qaeda from most of the Sunni provinces in Western Iraq, will be a welcome addition to Al-Maliki’s efforts to run a nationalist list in the next elections representing all segments of Iraqi society.
