Egyptian President Calls Meeting To Discuss Soccer Fan Violence

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has called a special meeting to discuss violence by soccer fans that followed Egypt's loss to Algeria in a World Cup playoff in Cairo.

Egypt has summoned the Algerian ambassador to Cairo and the Egyptian ambassador to Algeria for consultations, and to ensure the security of Egyptian citizens and Egyptian facilities in Algeria.

During an Egyptian parliamentary discussion yesterday, several opposition MPs stated that the Algerian government was responsible for the rioting.
