Imprisoned U.S. Academic Esfandiari Released On Bail

A senior Iranian judiciary official has announced that Iranian-American academic Dr. Haleh Esfandiari was released last night from an Iranian prison, on $322,000 bail.

Esfandiari, who is accused of anti-regime activity, was denied the right to legal representation throughout her detention, which lasted over three months.

The Iranian news agency IRNA noted that the final decision in her case, as well as that in the case of U.S.-American academic Dr. Kian Tajbakhsh who is still being held, will be made by the court.
