Plea To Ban Sheikh Al-Qaradhwi From Entering India

The Hindu Aikyavedi has called upon the Indian government to ban prominent Sunni Sheikh Yousuf Al-Qaradhawi, head of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, from entering India and attending public functions there.

Hindu Aikyavedi state secretary R.V. Babu, district general secretary Thirumala Anil, and district secretary Sandeep Thampanoor told a news conference in India on April 28 that Al-Qaradhawi, who is scheduled to attend an international seminar on the Koran that was to be held by the Department of Arabic of Kerala University yesterday, has been depicting India as an anti-Islamic country.

By openly supporting terrorists in Kashmir and exhorting the Palestinians to kill even pregnant Jewish women, he had proved himself to be a “theologian of terror,’’ they alleged. Qaradawi had justified the Al-Qaeda’s September 11 attack on World Trade Centre, they said.

The Aikyavedi leaders said that inviting such a person to attend a seminar organized by Kerala University would be against the interests of the country.
