For Cartoon In Swedish Paper Depicting Muhammad As Dog, Al-Qaeda In Iraq Offers Reward For Killing Of Cartoonist, Newspaper Editor

In a September 15, 2007 audio message posted on the Islamist forum www.al-ekhlaas.net, the Amir of the ISI (Al-Qaeda in Iraq) Abu 'Omar Al-Baghdadi offers a $100,000 reward for whoever kills the Swedish cartoonist who depicted Muhammad as a dog, and a $50,000 reward for the killing of the editor of Nerikes Allehanda,  the Swedish paper that published the cartoon,.

Al-Baghdadi promised to raise the reward to $150,000 "if the cartoonist is slaughtered like a sheep."

He further threatened Sweden with "an economic blow against your giant companies such as Ericsson, Scania, Volvo, Ikea, and Electrolux" if it did not repent for "its crime against the Prophet Muhammad."
