"Chemical Ali" Acknowledges Giving Order to Destroy Thousands of Kurdish Villages

During his trial, Ali Hassan al-Majid, known as "Chemical Ali", acknowledged that it was he who had instructed the Iraqi army to destroy thousands of Kurdish villages and deport their inhabitants. Al-Majid, who is also Saddam Hussein's cousin, said: "I will not defend myself and I will not apologize."
