Kuwaiti Parliament: Valentine's Day – A Forbidden Western Phenomenon

The Committee for the Struggle Against Negative Phenomena in the Kuwaiti parliament stated yesterday, February 10, that Valentine's Day makes young people form relationships with members of the opposite sex that are forbidden by religious law.

The committee also discussed girls' participation in sports, and deemed both phenomena foreign to Kuwaiti society.

MP J'aman Al-Harbash called such Westernization unacceptable and counter to Islam's instructions to its faithful – i.e. to be different from the Jews and the Christians.
