Bahrain To Appoint Jewish Woman Ambassador To Washington

Bahraini Shura Council member Huda Ezra Nunu, a Jewish woman, is to be appointed Bahrain's ambassador to Washington.

Ms. Nunu has served in the Shura Council since December 2006, and is also secretary-general of the Bahraini Human Rights Association.

Bahraini sources denied that the appointment of a Jew to the position was a public relations gesture to the West, and said that Ms. Nunu had proven herself as a Shura Council member and with her human rights work.
