Pakistani General: Cooperation With NATO Led To Militancy

Pakistan’s Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Tariq Majid has said that Pakistan’s cooperation with NATO forces deployed in Afghanistan and the military operation in the tribal districts of Pakistan has led to militancy in the country.

The Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jasarat quoted Gen. Majid as saying that extremism in the region was due to the conflict in Afghanistan over the past three decades. According to the report, he said that even before 9/11, Pakistan was facing the problem of terrorism and extremism.
