Teachers and cultural figures held a demonstration yesterday, March 3, 2007, in front of the Majlis in Tehran. The demonstration was the third in the past six weeks. The demonstrators, whose numbers were estimated at 15,000 to 20,000, called on Iranian Education Minister Mahmoud Farshidi to resign, claiming that he was concerned about obtaining nuclear energy rather than about their livelihood. They also called on Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to keep the promises he made during his election campaign. Sourc: Rooz, Iran, March 4, 2007; Jomhouri-e Eslami, Iran, March 4, 2007
