Yesterday, Iranian First Vice President Parviz Davoudi said that since the barbarous Zionist regime is on the throes of death, public turnout on Qods Day demonstrations this year will prove completely different. Visiting the ongoing 16th International Quran Exhibition at the Grand Prayer Grounds yesterday, he said that it was a duty to participate in the demonstrations.
In Damascus, the secretary-general of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front, Khalid Abdulmajid, said today that International Qods Day this year is historic because Qods is under Judaization. He added, "So, solidarity with Quds and this year's activities in connection with International Quds Day have a special position for Quds residents and for the Palestinian nation."
In New Delhi, Indian Muslims expressed solidarity with the Palestinians with an anti-Israel rally at Jantar Mantar today. Thousands of demonstrators under the banner of Muslim Political Council, the major Indian Muslim Organization, Jamaat Islami Hind, Jamiat Ulema Hind, Milli Council and All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawwarat and other organizations took to the street to mark the International Quds Day. The demonstrators chanted "Down with Israel," "Down with the U.S.," and "Long Live Islam." Addressing the gathering, Maulana Syed Mohsin Taqvi, Friday Prayer Leader of the Shi'a mosque Kashmiri Gate in Old Delhi called for unified resistance against the Zionists and the U.S.'s designs.
Earlier, in Delhi, Maulana Ahmed Bukhari, Shahi Imam of historical Jama Masjid and Maulana Mufti Mukarram Ahmed, Friday prayer leader of Shahi Fatehpuri Mosque, gave sermons in which they condemned the Zionist regime for unleashing a reign of terror in the occupied Arab territories, and prayed for the victory of the Palestinians.
Indian Shi'ite cleric Maulana Syed Kalbe Jawwad praised Iran's constant solidarity with the Palestinian people, adding that "Muslims across the globe should follow the guidelines of Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran and leader of the Islamic Revolution, to remove Zionist's illegal occupation of Al-Aqsa Mosque."
In Pakistan, religious groups held processions in all major cities, including the capital Islamabad, and condemned the occupation of "Al-Qods Sharif" by the Zionist regime. Religious leaders made clear that "Al-Qods Al-Sharif" is respected not only in the context of Islam but by all humanity, as one of Sha'aer-Ullah, and that freeing it from the Zionists' clutches is the imani (spiritual) duty of the whole Islamic world. Demonstrators burned burnt U.S. and Israeli flags.
According to information, Qods Day rallies were held in all major Pakistan cities including Peshawar, Quetta, Karachi, Bhakkar, Lahore, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Chakwal, Hyderabad, Larkana, Khairpur Mirs, Ranipur, Gujrat, Layyah, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Dera Ismail Khan, Multan, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Faisalabad.
Security was tightened to check any terrorist attack and police were deployed along procession routes as well as at mosques and imambarghas during Friday prayers.
Prior to Qods Day, on September 24 Pakistani religious leader Amir Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan Qazi Hussain Ahmad streesed the need for practical joint efforts to foil to the U.S. - Israel nexus against the Islamic ummah
He also called Qods Day the solution to the difficulties of Palestine's Muslims, calling it a nice tradition that kept the scattered Muslim Ummah united. He added that a single day is not enough to condemn the maneuvering of Israel, and criticized the leadership of Muslim world, saying that leaders of Muslim countries have become tools in the hands of the U.S.
He called the ummah a very strong power blessed with the holy Quran and Sunnah, and added that "Muslims are servants of humanity."
