Basij foreign affairs director Mahdi Sanaei-Rad has said that Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, unlike Fatah, are inspired by Iran's Islamic Revolution, and are following the path of revolution founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
Iranian Defense Minister Mustafa Mohammad Najar called the situation in Gaza "a war between infidels and Islam," and stressed that the Muslims and seekers of freedom in the world must defend the oppressed Palestinian people.
Iranian cleric Hujjat Al-Eslam Mahdi Taneb, lecturer at a religious seminary in Qom, said, "The crimes of the Zionist regime are based on the rulings of and commentary on the Torah and the Talmud," which are based on the perception that Palestine was given to the Jews by God and that its borders stretched from the Nile to the Euphrates.
