Council Spokesman: The Recent Presidential Elections Were the Cleanest in the History of the Islamic Republic

Iranian Guardians Council Spokesman Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei said that, after investigating the candidates' complaints, it transpires that there had been no election fraud, and that the recent elections had in fact been the cleanest in the history of the Islamic Republic.

In response to the suggestion of the Guardians Council to recount 10% of the votes, Mir Hossein Mousavi called to cancel the election results altogether and hold a new election, and also to form an independent mediation committee of senior ayatollahs acceptable to all sides.
