IAEA Director-General Mohamed El-Baradei said that an agreement between Tehran and the U.S. administration was necessary, and that, in his assessment, it was also possible.
He added that Iran might posses the know-how and technology to manufacture a nuclear weapon, but that, in his opinion, it had no desire to do so, but only to obtain guarantees of its security and Western recognition of its interests in the Gulf and the Middle East.
Even if Iran manufactures one nuclear bomb, he stated, this will not turn it into a threatening nuclear superpower.
