Khatami: Dozens Were Killed In Protests

At a meeting with the families of protestors who were arrested, former Iranian president Mohammad Khatami said that the electoral victory of Iranian President Mahmoud was a velvet coup against the people and against the republican nature of the regime.

He stressed that the protests would continue in other ways.

He added that dozens had been killed in the protests, and that the protestors had not sought to topple the regime, rather to change its policy.

He said that the public's lack of confidence in the regime would increase and that the repression was playing into the hands of the enemies of the regime.
