Iran's Atomic Energy Organization director Ali Akbar Salehi said today, in his first press conference since his appointment, that he is positive about the Bushehr nuclear power plant's operation, but that he will not announce the exact date.
He said, "I am confident that the power plant will be operated, but I don’t want to announce the time explicitly."
Asked about Iran’s optimistic view towards Russia although the latter has repeatedly postponed the operation date, Salehi stated that the process was complicated by the combination of Eastern and Western technologies in the plant's construction.
"Maybe we would have met the outcome sooner if we had built a new power plant," he noted
