Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said today that the Islamic countries should possess technology to produce nuclear energy.
Larijani made the remarks upon his arrival at Mehrabad airport in Tehran, from attending the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Uganda to voice Iran’s stand on securing Muslims’ legitimate rights worldwide to produce nuclear energy in line with the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union passed a resolution to acknowledge the rights of the Islamic states enshrined by the Charter of the International Atomic Energy Agency to produce nuclear energy for civilian uses.
Larijani told the reporters that it is legitimate a right of every Islamic state to possess the technological knowhow to set up fuel cycle for nuclear power plants.
