Iranian Ambassador to Damascus Hojjatoleslam Ahmad Mousavi has said that the Zionist regime of Israel failed to achieve its goals in Gaza due to the resistance shown by the Palestinian people.
Speaking at a gathering of 130 visiting Iranian university professors in Damascus, he said that Israel was defeated in the war in Gaza, despite using 13,000 tanks.
He reminded his audience of Israel's daily attacks on Gaza using 100 planes and 150 helicopters, and said that the war was aimed at defeating the popular government of Ismail Haniya and leaving the area to Mahmoud Abbas – but that Israel could not achieve any positive results thanks to efforts by the mojahedin.
The leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad also spoke at the gathering.
