The liberal website Elaph.com reports, citing Iranian opposition sources, that Khalil Al-Sultan, director of the Syrian branch of the Iranian Khodro auto manufacturing company who was assassinated last week in Damascus (see Iran Khodro Company's Syria Agent Assassinated), was once a commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).
The website said that although he had retired from the IRGC, he continued, under cover of his business dealings, to maintain contact with the IRGC and to cooerdfinate between them and Hizbullah.
The assailants have not yet been apprehended.
