A security official in Sulaymania [Iraqi Kurdistan] said that Iranian troops are three km [about two miles] inside Iraqi territory, and that skirmishes are taking place with separatists Kurds in the Qindill Mountain area on the border.
[The Iraqi press has been reporting on a regular basis in the last few weeks of heavy shelling by Iranian artillery of separatist Kurdish positions on the Iraqi-Iranian border.]
