The IRGC weekly Sobh-e Sadeq discloses that at the Asia Conference, held in Istanbul earlier this month, Turkish mediation was not successful in arranging a meeting mediate between Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, because of Ahmadinejad's refusal to accept Putin's demand that he retract his May 26 comments about Russia – i.e. that Russia was setting itself up as an enemy of Iran.
The weekly also revealed that Tehran had rejected Moscow's proposal for a secret meeting between representatives from the two countries at the margins of the conference.
