Senior Iranian Lawmaker Raps Russian President For Anti-Iran Remarks

A senior Iranian lawmaker today blasted recent allegations by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that Iran is moving closer to the acquisition of military nuclear capability, and cautioned Moscow officials not to be fooled by the "false information" presented by the U.S. and British spy agencies.

"We expect Russia, as a powerful country, not to be fooled by the false information of the American and British spy agencies," said Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission head Alaeddin Boroujerdi.

Calling Medvedev's comments on Iran's nuclear program "unreal," Boroujerdi advised Moscow not to follow the policies of the U.S. and Britain.

He also referred to the presence of approximately 3,000 Russian experts at Iran's first nuclear power plant in the southern city of Bushehr, as well as to the vast cooperation between the two countries in this field, and said, "They (the Russians) are well aware that our nuclear activities are peaceful."
