In Iran, Anti-Reformist Propaganda In Advance Of Parliamentary Elections
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) political bureau director Yadollah Javani explained why the U.S. is supporting Iran's reformists. Writing in the IRGC daily Sobh-e Sadeq, Javani said that during the eight years of their rule, Iran's reformists had sought to restrict the authority of Iran's supreme leader, to come to terms with the West and with the U.S., to establish a civil society, and to present the culture of shahada (martyrdom) as violent. In addition, the association of Friday preachers asked preachers to attack reformists in Friday prayers. In a letter to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, the reformist Mojahedeen-e Inqilab-e Eslam party said that the propaganda and attacks against it are making the elections unfair.
