The Iranian website Tabnak has criticized Muqtada Al-Sadr's "impudent interview" with Al-Jazeera TV on March 29 (see "Muqtada Al-Sadr, Iraqi Leader of the Al-Mahdi Movement, Supports Armed Attacks on U.S. Forces in Iraq, Says Al-Mahdi Army Will Be "An Interested Party" If Any Arab or Islamic Country Is Attacked"), in which Al-Sadr stated that at a meeting with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei last year, he asked Khamenei to "end Iran's political and military activity in Iraq."
The website hinted that Al-Sadr was making these impudent statements as the West was aggressively accusing Iran of arming Al-Sadr's Mahdi Army, and of hosting him on occasion.
