A knowledgeable Iranian source said, referring to Western sources stating that an attack on Iran was one of the main issues during U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney's visit to the Persian Gulf, said that Iran was monitoring secret conversations between the Americans and the countries of the region.
The source added that the retirement of U.S. CENTCOM commander Adm. William Fallon, who was opposed to a U.S. attack on Iran, particularly at this time, must not be dismissed, and that it was likely to bear an important message.
The source concluded by saying that the White House must not get the wrong impression from Iran's senior officials' silence in light of the U.S. measures.
