Iran: Establish Uranium Enrichment Consortium On Iranian Soil

Iran's nuclear chief Saeed Jalili said at the Majlis that EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana had said during his recent visit to Tehran that he "agrees with the outline of Iran's package."

Jalili added that the ground was fertile for "cooperation between Iran and some Western powers."

In an attempt to soften Iran's rejection of the 5+1 incentives package presented by Solana, an Iranian source announced that Tehran would be willing to negotiate over the proposal in exchange for the West's accepting Iran's proposal, including establishing a consortium for enriching uranium on Iranian soil.

Majlis Committee for National Security and Foreign Policy head Ala Al-Din Boroujerdi said that the West could not be trusted and that Iran had to produce the nuclear fuel it needed on its own soil.

At the same time, Iran's representative to the IAEA announced that Iran would continue its uranium enrichment.
