A new law may affect an ongoing investigation on the army

According to a recent news story of the Cumhuriyet newspaper, the new law which will pave the way for the trial of civilians only in civil courts can affect an ongoing investigation on the army.

The investigation started after a group of soldiers initiated fake orders on behalf of their commander. When their biographies were traced back, it was discovered that the soldiers were active members of Isikevis, which are gathering places for youngsters belonging to the Fethullah Gulen movement, in the previous years.

If the new law passes, then even if the military investigation finds out that the case is connected to Fethullah Gulen, the military public prosecutor will not be able to take any actions against him.
