Following Turkish National Security Council decision to recommend to the government to apply economic sanctions to Iraq, including the closure of Habur border gate, Iraqi parliament speaker Mahmoud Mashadani said today that in case such embargo is imposed on Iraq, Iraq would retaliate by shutting off the oil pipe to Ceyhan, Turkey. Mashadani’s statement came in Damascus where he met with the Syrian President Bashar Assad – who offered Syria’s services in mediating between Turkey and Iraq.
