The Islamist Fethullah Gulen community’s daily Zaman reported today that it had conducted an interview with a retired Turkish admiral who formerly had commanded the Naval Forces who allegedly said that he admired the Fethullah Gulen’s schools established in dozens of foreign countries with the help of Turkish entrepreneurs associated with Gulen movement.
His remarks came one day after the New York Times article praising these schools. The admiral allegedly said that he did not agree with accusations against these schools and added that those who wish to fight should pick up issues other than education to fight about. Zaman did not disclose the name of this top-ranking military official and wrote that this was done to respect the admiral’s request.
