Turkey’s Top General: “Terrorism Biggest Threat To Global Peace”
Speaking at an international security conference in the Mediterranean city of Antalya, Turkey’s Chief of General Staff, General Yasar Buyukanit said that terrorism is the most serious sickness of the 21st century and that none of the forms of terrorism could be considered legitimate, regardless of the ideology behind them. Buyukanit told commanders from several countries that international cooperation has become the sine qua non in the fight against terrorism. He said that efforts in diplomacy, intelligence, economy, finance, information and law were all as important as the military methods in the fight against terrorism, since terrorist organizations are acting like international crime organizations committing crimes such as drug and human trafficking, money laundering, racketeering, bootlegging and kidnapping for ransom.
