Chinese President Hu Jintao has written a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Asif Zardari, urging him to take action to uproot the militant group East Turkistan Islamic Movement from Pakistani soil, according to an Urdu daily.
The Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Jang quoted unidentified sources in the Interior Ministry of Pakistan as saying that numerous members of the East Turkistan Islamic Movement are hiding in Pakistan’s tribal region.
The East Turkistan Islamic Movement is blamed for militant activities among Chinese Muslims.
