Taliban Website: Obama’s Cairo Speech An ‘‘Attempt To Deceive Muslims’’
The Taliban in Afghanistan have declared U.S. President Barack Obama’s Cairo speech to the Muslim world as ‘‘another attempt to deceive Muslims’’ at a time the American troops are engaged in the ‘‘mass killing of Muslims’’ in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to a Taliban website.
According to a statement released on Taliban website www.alemarah1.org, the Taliban said: ‘‘Obama is making the claim of cordial relations with Muslims in a situation when the occupation forces of the U.S. have been continuing the mass killing of Muslims, torturing prisoners and killing those who are defending their rights.’’
The Taliban statement was released in reaction to U.S. President Barack Obama’s speech, in Cairo, in which he called for a new beginning between the West and the Muslim world.
‘‘Obama justified the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq and the interests of the U.S., but international law does not allow the capturing of an independent country and justify brutal war on the people of these countries,’’ the Taliban statement said.
It noted, ‘‘Obama wants to create rifts among Muslims with such statements and speeches and distance Muslims from the Mujahideen. All of the Muslims have joined jihad... and they consider the U.S. war against mujahideen as being against the entire Muslim world.’’
