Afghan Foreign Minister Dr. Rangeen Dadfar Spanta has urged friendly nations to respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty and to hold their meetings with Afghan politicians and presidential contenders after informing the government, according to an Afghan daily.
Dr. Spanta’s statement comes just days after Afghan President Hamid Karzai’s office criticized U.S. diplomats in Afghanistan for holding talks with various political leaders and presidential contenders.
The Afghan foreign minister said he had sent four official letters to the political representations of foreign countries in order to coordinate their meetings with any organization through the foreign ministry, according to a report in the Afghanistan Times.
The minister described the friendly countries as guests and added that the guests have to respect the national integrity of Afghanistan.
