Pakistani PM: Resolution Of Kashmir Issue Will Ensure Peace For 1.5 Billion People In South Asia. Indian PM: Dismantle Infrastructure Of Terrorism, Agree A Comprehensive Convention On International Terrorism

Addressing the 15 Summit of Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Egyptian resort town Sharm El Sheikh, Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the resolution of the Kashmir issue will ensure durable peace for 1.5 billion people of South Asia, according to an Urdu daily.
The Urdu-language Pakistani newspaper Roznama Jang quoted Prime Minister Gilani as saying: ‘‘Durable peace in South Asia is possible, but for it, all disputes, including the Jammu & Kashmir issue, must be resolved. The resolution of the Kashmir issue will bring hope to 1.5 billion people.’’
Gilani (pictured above), added that there has been positive development in bilateral relations with India in recent days.
The two countries’ relations took a nosedive after the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.
Prime Minister Gilani is slated to meet with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh on Thursday (today).
In his address to the NAM summit, Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made a strong pitch for dismantling terror infrastructure and asked countries not to provide safe havens for terrorists.
According to a report in The Frontier Post, Prime Minister Singh said: ‘‘In recent years, terrorist groups have become more sophisticated, more organized and more daring. Terrorists and those who aid and abet them must be brought to justice.’’
Sending a strong message to Pakistan on the eve of his meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, Singh added: ‘‘The infrastructure of terrorism must be dismantled and there should be no safe havens for terrorists because they do not represent any cause, group or religion. It is time that we agree on a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism.’’
