Pakistan has banned the entry of officials from foreign non-governmental organizations in the Malakand Division of North West Frontier Province (NWFP), according to an Urdu-language daily.
The decision comes in the wake of the killing of three U.S. soldiers in a suspected suicide attack in the NWFP’s Lower Dir district, according to a report in the Urdu-language newspaper Roznama Islam.
The report, quoting undisclosed sources, said that the government imposed the ban in the Malakand Division because Pakistani security forces are engaged in operations against the militants in the area.
Malakand Division comprises of NWFP’s Swat, Buner, Dir Upper, Dir Lower, Shangla, Malakand and Chitral districts.
